Growing up in Baton Rouge and New Orleans, Louisiana, I undoubtedly developed a passion for the arts, as well as a strong appreciation of the surrounding culture. Living in two cities with such an abundance of colorful culture, scenery, art, diversity and music helped play a strong influence in my ever-growing desire to expand my knowledge of the various cultures, history and beauty in the world around me.
Since I was young, painting, drawing or sketching had always been my creative outlet. My love for painting slowly developed into an art business as a “side hobby” in college, and I still paint and take commissions to this day.
As I grew older, I began to develop a strong passion for traveling and discovering more of this incredible world. My first time traveling to Europe, back in 2012, lit a fire in my soul and truly sparked my ever-growing love of traveling. I consider myself an “old soul,” and the Old World charm that envelopes Europe completely captivated all my senses and every ounce of my being. This experience left me with the endless desire to travel to the ends of the earth (as frequently as possible), soaking in as many cultures, cities and experiences as I can along the way!
Traveling and experiencing new cultures is what has continued to expand my knowledge and appreciation of the arts and fuel my creative passion. After I planned an incredible itinerary (if I do say so myself) for a magical, week-long road trip around Ireland back in 2018, several people (that I had unknowingly inspired through my travels) reached out to me wanting all my advice, recommendations and itineraries on traveling to Ireland. Realizing that I loved sharing my travel tips with all my friends and family, I knew I wanted to build a platform where I could easily share my travel guides, recommendations, travel photography, tips and vision with the world.
Thus, Landry Has Landed came to fruition! One trip at a time, I’ve slowly been building out my website and expanding my knowledge of travel blogging, photography, and appreciation of the arts through my passion for exploring the world and embracing new cultures. My hope is to help make travel planning easier and more accessible for everyone!
I am still currently working as a full time Registered Dental Hygienist, as I have since receiving my Bachelor of Science from Louisiana State University in 2012 (Geaux Tigers!); however, my hope is that the more my blog grows, the more it will open up new opportunities that allow me to pursue my passions even more in the future.
Like a lot of people, I used to think that you needed tons of money to travel the world, which kept me from taking more trips in the past. Fortunately, though, (through a lot of time and research) I uncovered several tips and tricks to not only help people travel more, but spend less money while doing it! I love that I am able to show people on a budget (like me) that traveling can be as affordable or luxurious as you want it to be. The world is full of incredible places just waiting to be explored, no matter how big or small your wallet is.
The world is your oyster! (and boy, does my Louisiana soul love oysters!)
