The Amenities

One of the reasons I always lean towards choosing an apartment/Airbnb over a hotel when traveling is because of the home-like feel and, of course, the amenities! Sure, staying in a hotel is nice and has it’s perks, but do you have a fully stocked kitchen and the option to cook a meal at home in a hotel room? Nine times out of ten, the answer is no!

At this beautiful apartment, not only did we feel like a true local, but we also had the wonderful amenities that a local living in Athens would! I.e., a full-sized fridge (we ordered pizza to be delivered one night and were thankful for a fridge large enough to fit a whole pizza box!), dining table, couch to lounge on, separate rooms to spread out and not be cooped up in one big box, a coffee maker, full-sized balcony, your own washing machine (huge one, y’all–especially in the heat of Greece! Ha!), and the list goes on!

The Stylish Decor

I love when touches of style and character are spread throughout the place I’m staying. There’s something to be said about true “styling” to make someone feel right at home, as opposed to just furnishing a place.

This apartment had all the right touches of decor and inviting ambiance to make you feel so cozy you didn’t even want to leave to go out (like I said earlier, we ordered pizza one night, stayed in, and enjoyed every minute of it)!

The Modern Bedroom & Bathroom

I just love the clean and minimalistic look and feel of the bedroom and bathroom–which are two of the most important rooms, in my opinion! The modern and updated feel is so inviting and luxurious!

The Balcony

Would you look at the perfection of the balcony?! Talk about the perfect spot to sip your morning coffee, or to drink some wine while enjoying your own cheese + charcuterie board as the sun sets down on this bustling city! This balcony was HUGE and the weather at night in October was perfect to cozy up outside and relax! (I also love that the bedroom doors open up to the balcony as well, like I mentioned above!)

Balconies are always a luxurious perk, in my book!

The Location!

Located in the historical center of Athens, Thission is conveniently situated within walking distance to all of the main attractions in Athens City Center that you will want to visit during your stay, as well as nightlife and the metro (a huge plus)!

The surrounding neighborhoods are very safe, and we walked to the Acropolis quickly and easily, never once feeling like we were walking through a bad part of town to get there. The host, Mary, also provided a great suggestions packet with tons of her recommendations on how to get the most out of exploring Athens, along with her best restaurant and activity recommendations! I ALWAYS ask the locals for their best food recommendations when traveling somewhere, so I loved having the information already provided for me!

Monastiraki Flea Market / Monastiraki Square

The square is centered around the flea market and always busy with musicians, tourists, street performers and locals. You can find locally produced foods, cheeses, bakery items, as well as the regular souvenirs in this super diverse center of attraction.
